Best Places to Visit in India for Christmas Holidays
- GOA
Obviously, I had to start the list with Goa. Goa transforms into a magical Christmas wonderland in the last week of December. There are so many churches and chapels to visit, the flea markets, the lit up decorated beaches, night-long Christmas parties, the suppers and dinners, the prayers and carols and what not. It’s totally worth visiting at least once during Christmas time. But let me give you a heads-up, Goa is SUPER CROWDED in December, especially in the last week. I will suggest you to book your hotels and flight tickets in advance.
- Shimla
Christmas in mountains is indeed a beautiful experience. It feels like you are living a scene from a Hollywood Christmas movie, with snowing every now and then and chill climate. You get to wear stylish long coats and hats too. Well, the reason why I suggested Shimla is that there is a Church on the Mall Road of Shimla, and because of that, the entire Mall road is decorated and lit up. But again, Shimla is also very crowded during the Christmas, to suggesting you to book in advance.
- Kovalam
Another beach destination for Christmas holidays is Kovalam. It is a small quaint city in Kerala that is perfect for a peaceful Christmas vacation. The good thing about Kovalam is that it is not that crowded as Goa is. In fact, the whole Kerala is a perfect destination for Christmas holidays.
- Kolkata
Christmas in Kolkata gives such a vintage 80s vibes. If you like to experience city Christmas but with some old vintage vibes, then Kolkata should be your choice.
- Pondicherry
Pondicherry is popular for its perfect blend of French tradition with Indian culture. Pondicherry is an ecstasy during Christmas festival. Clean and calm beaches of Pondicherry are just perfect for spending the day time of Christmas and obviously, beautiful built churches and scenic glances of French culture makes this place perfect for Christmas celebration in India. It is indeed one of the best places in India for Christmas holidays.
- Mumbai
Mumbai/Bombay is one of the cities which have wholeheartedly embraced all the diverse cultures of India. I totally love Mumbai during Christmas. It is a perfect blend of having a holiday in a city with a beach. The sea makes Mumbai special, obviously. Some of places in Mumbai like Hill Road, Bandra and Church Gate are places where Christmas is celebrated with immense fervor. Also, if you are doing to Mumbai for Christmas holidays, don’t forget to visit the Mount Mary Church in the mid-night. It is a Roman Catholic Basilica located in Bandra.
Apart from these places, you can also visit Delhi, Lansdowne, Nainital and Ladakh for Christmas. These places too are fab for Christmas holidays.
