We’ve all seen the Hollywood blockbusters. The dramatic music swells, the hero looks up at a streaking ball of fire, and suddenly, the world realizes that everything we’ve been stressing about – the emails, the laundry, that awkward thing we said three years ago, doesn’t actually matter.
In the world of science, an asteroid impact is a rare, catastrophic event that has the power to reshape the very surface of our planet. But in the world of the soul, the concept of an asteroid impact serves as the ultimate “reality check.”

The Cosmic Reminder of Our Smallness (and Greatness)
When we think about an asteroid hurtling through space, it’s easy to feel small. And honestly? Sometimes feeling small is exactly what we need.
In my journey as a life coach and author, I’ve noticed that most of our anxiety stems from feeling like our personal “worlds” are too big. We carry the weight of expectations like they are planetary in scale. But when you look at the cosmic scale, where rocks the size of cities are floating in the vastness, our daily worries start to look a little less like mountains and a little more like grains of sand.
Living Like Every Moment is “Pre-Impact”
Scientists spend their lives tracking Near-Earth Objects (NEOs) to predict a possible asteroid impact. They do this because they know that life is fragile.
If we knew for a fact that the world was going to change tomorrow, how would you spend today?
-
Would you still be holding that grudge?
-
Would you still be waiting for “the right time” to start that passion project?
-
Would you forget to tell your favorite people that you love them?
Turning Fear into Presence
The thought of a literal asteroid hitting Earth is scary, but the “mental asteroids” we face every day, sudden health news, job changes, or loss, are the ones that actually impact our lives.
Instead of living in fear of the “big hit,” we can use the concept of an asteroid impact to ground ourselves in the present. It teaches us:
-
Gratitude: This planet is a miracle. The fact that we are protected by an atmosphere and thriving is something to celebrate every morning.
-
Urgency: Stop postponing your happiness. Manifesting your dream life isn’t for “someday”—it’s for now.
-
Connection: In the face of a cosmic event, borders and differences vanish. We are all just humans on a beautiful, blue marble.
So Look Up, But Stay Grounded
The next time you look at the stars, remember that the universe is vast and unpredictable. While we can’t control where a stray asteroid might land, we can control how we live in the space between the stars.
Don’t wait for a literal impact to start living an impactful life. Shine bright, stay kind, and remember: you are made of the same stardust as those giants in the sky.
