Happy Independence Day everyone! If you follow me on Twitter, you must have read my tweet about my ride with an Ola Sainik yesterday; if not, you must follow me there right away.
For all the ones who don’t know, Ola Sainiks are actually ex-servicemen who are now working as drivers with Ola and putting all of their efforts to raise awareness for traffic and congestion issues in our country. So being a regular Ola user, I booked a cab to GK in Delhi. The moment I made myself comfortable in the cab, I noticed this placard.
I asked the caby about the Placard and then he told me that he is an ex-servicemen now working with Ola. I asked to stop the car to sit at the navigator’s seat to know more about him & his purpose. My Ola Sainik’s name is Gurmail Ji. He told me that he joined Army in 1985 and got retired from there in 2015. The next day he got retired, he joined Ola and now, he is working with Ola driving his own car and living life to the fullest.
I had a great time listening to his Army ke kisse and knowing about how his life has changed after joining Ola. He told me that now he is life own his own terms.
He also told me how Ola Share is a better option than booking a separate cab. So if people start booking cab using Ola Share option, the number of taxis will reduce which will help in reducing air pollution and traffic congestion. Isn’t it great?
I am so amazed to know that these soldiers fought for our country and now they are fighting against congestion and traffic, in their second avatars as Ola Sainiks. They are playing a big role in driving our country’s important agenda against de-congestion and traffic It was so great to interact with Gurmail Ji and know him. He told me know Ola really helped him in continuing to live life on their own terms as Ola Sainiks. I am never going to forget this ride ever. Kudos to Ola Cabs!
I would like to suggest you if you spot this placard in your Ola Cab, do interact with these Ola Sainiks and give them a salute.
