Leevin Hostel Dublin Review: Best Hostel for Solo Travellers

Leevin Hostel Mountjoy Dublin Review,  Leevin Hostel Mountjoy Dublin Review

When people think about staying in Dublin, they usually imagine expensive hotels, tiny rooms, or staying far from the city centre to save money. But honestly, one of the most interesting experiences I had in Ireland was staying at Leevin Hostel Dublin.

And no, this did not feel like a “cheap hostel experience.”

It actually felt aesthetic, social, comfortable, and surprisingly memorable.

What makes this place stand out immediately is the fact that the building used to be an old church. Yes, an actual historic church converted into a modern hostel. So the moment you enter, you notice the high ceilings, old architecture, massive windows, and that vintage European vibe that feels straight out of a movie.

It has this mix of old Dublin charm with modern backpacker energy.

Location – One of the Biggest Advantages

The hostel is located on Mountjoy which very close to Dublin city centre, which made everything super convenient. I explored all the main places of Dublin including the market, Dublin portal and temple bar, just by walking. They even have a lot of cafes and restaurants (Indian veg too) nearby. Most tourist spots, cafés, pubs, and shopping streets were accessible by walking or a short bus ride. best hostel in dublin

For solo travellers especially, location matters A LOT because you don’t want to spend half your trip figuring out transport.

Nearby places included: best hostel in dublin

  • O’Connell Street
  • Temple Bar area
  • Restaurants and grocery stores
  • Public transport stops
  • Cafés and convenience stores

The area also felt lively and safe even during evenings, which is important if you are travelling alone.

The Rooms & Experience

I stayed in a shared hostel setup, and honestly, it was much better than what people usually imagine when they hear “hostel.”

The beds had: best hostel in dublin

  • Privacy curtains
  • Charging points
  • Reading lights
  • Storage space
  • Comfortable mattresses

The rooms were clean, warm, and maintained properly. Washrooms were also cleaned regularly, which genuinely matters during long Europe trips.

One thing I liked was that despite being social, it never felt chaotic.

Some hostels feel like nonstop party zones where nobody sleeps. Leevin had a balanced vibe. You could meet people from different countries in common areas, but still come back and relax peacefully.

And the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I chatted a lot with the staff and they told so many stories about Dublin and hacks to save money as well. You know I lost my lock key of the underbed cupboard and staff helped me break the lock at the midnight.

The Common Areas Were Beautiful

Because the property used to be a church, the common spaces looked very different from regular hostels.

Instead of boring plain interiors, there were: best hostel in dublin

  • Tall arched ceilings
  • Vintage architecture
  • Open social areas
  • Cozy seating spaces
  • Natural light coming through old-style windows

It honestly felt cinematic at times. best hostel in dublin

If you create travel content or Instagram reels, this place has a naturally aesthetic vibe without even trying too hard.

Costing – Was It Worth It?

Dublin is honestly an expensive city, especially for accommodation. Hotels can easily cost a lot per night, so staying at Leevin Hostel was a smart option financially.

I paid 24,000 INR for 2 nights including breakfast and mine was a 6 bed female dorm. It may sound a bit expensive in Indian currency, but it was actually cheap in euros.

The pricing usually depends on:

  • Season
  • Weekend vs weekday
  • Shared dorm vs private room
  • How early you book

But compared to hotels in Dublin, this felt significantly more budget friendly while still giving a comfortable and memorable experience.

For backpackers, solo travellers, students, or even creators travelling Europe on a budget, I think it gives really good value for money.

Things I Personally Loved

  • The fact that it was an old church converted into a hostel
  • The cozy European aesthetic
  • Good location near central Dublin
  • Social but peaceful atmosphere
  • Budget friendly compared to Dublin hotels
  • Safe for solo travellers
  • Clean washrooms and sleeping areas

Sometimes a stay becomes part of the travel memory itself, and Leevin Hostel Dublin felt like that kind of place.

It was not just “a place to sleep.”

It added character to the Ireland trip.

There was something very special about waking up inside a historic church building in Dublin, meeting travellers from different parts of the world, and then stepping out into the streets of Ireland with coffee in hand.

If you are planning a trip to Dublin and want something affordable, aesthetic, social, and unique, I would genuinely recommend trying Leevin Hostel.
