You can play Secret Santa with your family members, friends, or your colleagues or preferably all the three. But actually arranging this can be a bit more complicated.
Written below are the rules for a traditional Secret Santa game:
- Write down every name on a clean paper. Assemble all the members up and have them scribble their names on a piece of paper. If you can’t, you can just use text or email. Decide the number of participants: In this game, large number of participants can play. Many a times due to miscalculation in the number of participants, there’s a shortage or gifts on the day of Secret Santa.
- Players should bring interesting gifts
- Have everyone write down their gift ideas on paper. You can write down something vague like a mug or you can write something very particular like a crimson, marble Japanese, mug.
- Draw names to randomly assign a Secret Santa to each player. Reach into the hat and pick up a name to find out who you’ll buy a gift for.
- Plan a gift exchange. Pick a day when all the people can get together, before Christmas vacations if possible. Make sure each gift is tagged with the recipient’s name not the receiver’s, otherwise they will find out.
- Guess who drew your name.
- Each one is secretly responsible for buying their chosen recipient a wonderful gift.
- Each participant gets one of three options:
Option1: Choose a gift from the table,
Option 2: Put their name in a hat to win the jackpot
Option3: Put their name in a separate hat to win the gifts not chosen
