8 Places to Visit in December to See Snowfall in India

Our country India is blessed with some of the topmost tourist destinations that attract travellers in December to see snowfall in India. The amazing roads and trees covered with flakes of snow pouring like rain and people playing and enjoying entertaining activities is an incredible site to watch. There is a long listing of tourist places in India where snowfall is considerably high and most of them are found in the northern part of India.

Solang Valley, Manali

8 best places to visit for snowfall in India in December are-

Shimla in Himachal Pradesh:

Also famous as Queen of Hills, Shimla attract tourists from all across the world and is among the top most hill station for winter vacation. The snow covered mountains of Shimla are very inviting as they are clad in immaculate white snow. It is assumed that this new year of Shimla is going to experience heavy snowfall.

Manali in Himachal Pradesh:

Manali is another great hill station that will be an ideal destination for snowfall in December.  After November chances of snowfall is enhanced and the town of Manali is cloaked with blanket of snow.  The snow clad peaks are a sight to behold and the memories of Manali will stay with you all your life. Also, Manali is my favourite.

Gulmarg in Jammu & Kashmir

Gulmarg yet another scenic destination for experiencing snow fall in the month of December. It is an enchanting snowfall destination in December and is found in the range of Pir Panjal in Western Himalayas. At times the temperature dips in Gulmarg and is as low as -8 degree Celsius. You can take pleasure in activities like skiing or a ride in cable-car.

Leh in Ladakh:

Almora in Uttarakhand:

If you want to see snowfall in the month of December Almora is a great to visit. It has rich cultural diversity and is cantonment town with an amazing sight of the snow-clad Himalayas. Encircled by tall Oak and Pine trees, Almora is famous for Chitai and Nanda Devi temples its more than 2 centuries old Lala Bazaar. The market is popular for copper vessels and clothes. The sunset from the Bright End Corner is the highlight of Almora.

Darjeeling in West Bengal:

Darjeeling, a famous hill town of West Bengal offers a wonderful view of Kanchenjunga. A summer town during the British Raj is popular for Glenary’s Cafe cakes and cookies. Tourists coming to Darjeeling, enjoy the toy-train rides and is the highlight of this hill station.

Auli in Uttarakhand:

If you love skiing and snowfall in the month of December then head straight to Auli. Travellers coming here take pleasure in different snow activities. Auli is nicely placed in the background of the Nar Parvat and Nanda Devi mountains and its oak forests are a perfect site for the nature lovers. Extended Apple orchards are highlight of Auli.

Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh:

Tawang, famous for its stunning monasteries is a wonderful destination in the month of December, if you have a strong desire to enjoy snowfall. Tsangyang Gyatso’s birthplace, the sixth Dalai Lama, Tawang is well known for its charming beauty. The highlight of Tawang is the Tipi Orchid Sanctuary.
