Christmas is almost here. I believe everyone loves to Christmas despite the religion. I am a Hindu girl but I always visit the Church and celebrate Christmas at home. I decorate the tree, put up lights, hang stockings, eat cake and watch Christmas movies. I recently read about Christmas traditions that people have from all across the world and thought, how nice it would be to start at home, like having a small little Christmas tradition that one can follow every year at home and can be passed on from generation to generation. DIY Christmas tree

Buying a real or artificial Christmas tree and decorating it at home is something that everyone does. How beautiful it will be to make a Christmas tree at home as a part of your Christmas tradition. You may make a Christmas tree using clothes, books, craft papers, hardboards and what not. Sky is the limit!

Bake a cake together

How about having a family tradition of baking a Christmas cake together. Imagine, everyone in the family go shopping together to buy the inventory and then work together to bake the cake while signing songs and have the best time together. This is a good tradition for family as well as couples.

Compose a carol or a Christmas song

How beautiful it is to sit together on a Christmas eve and everyone working together to compose a Christmas carol or the song. It may have funny lines from toddlers, wise words from the elderly and beautiful lines on love and togetherness from the young. You may write the song down and then sing it on the Christmas time. Also, try recording it no matter how funny or embarrassing it is, it is a memory of the lifetime.

Storytelling Night

In this Christmas, everyone in the house has a tell a Christmas story. It can be either an old tale or something they have written by themselves. One by one, they have to narrate the story till the clock ticks 12.

DIY Christmas decor

Instead of buying decor items from the market, try upcycling and reusing the items available in your house to create some beautiful DIY Christmas decor. You may get the glitters and glues and bows from the market.

Pick a wall of your house or backyard and paint it. Let the creativity flow and let everyone try their hands on it. You can either make an outline and ask everyone to colour it or you can ask anyone to make whatever they want like a graffiti wall. Every Christmas, either 1 of your family members or all may perform a mono-act aka solo-play. Mono-act is a play that is performed by single person. They can enact any famous scene from the movie or a play or a rhyme.
