Are you a potter head? Oh well, even if you are not a potter head like me, I am assuming that you must have read or watched harry potter at least once and you know the story of it. Harry Potter is one amongst the best books and movies I have ever read or seen. Yes, I am talking about the book as well as about the movie.
And to be very frank, this is the only story that I loved watching more than reading. But here I am not going to debate on whether the movie was better or the book, but I am going to share 15 fantastico facts about Harry Potter that are surprising and will surely knock you off from your broomstick.
1) J.K. Rowling’s birthday in on 31 July. The same day Harry Potter was born. Only the birth year is different!
2) Actress who played the role of Moaning Myrtle in Harry Potter and the chambers of secret was actually 37 years old when that movies was filmed. Surprising or shocking?
3) Originally, the character of Ron Weasley used many swear words but the publishers of the book didn’t approve it as then, it would not have been appropriate for the young readers.
4) The name ‘Hogwarts’ have been inspired from a plant that Rowling saw in the Kew
5) J. K. Rowling once revealed in an interview that the character of Hermione has been inspired from her own self when she was 11 years old.
6) Tom Felton who played the role of Draco Malfoy initially auditioned for the roles of Harry Potter and Ron Weasley.
7) As per the reports released in 2008, over 400 million Harry potter books have been sold in 67 different languages worldwide.
8) Fred and George were born on 1st April. (May be that’s why they loved fooling people around)
9) The dementors in the series depict sadness and grief which depicts Rowling’s struggle and sad phase during her mid-twenties.
10) Initially Rowling planned that the last word to end the series would be ‘Scar’ but then she changed it to ‘All was well’. (Check the last page of the last book for this one!)
11) In total, there are 700 types of fouls in Quidditch.
12) Rowling was willing to keep the title of the final part of Harry Potter series as Harry Potter and the Elder Wand but then she changed it.
12) The least successful Harry Potter film which is Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban actually made over $90 million which is a lot more than the most successful Twilight movie.
Ain’t these facts surprising? Being an Author I respect J.K.Rowling and take her as my role model. Writing fantasy is one of the most difficult genres. Rowling is truly a queen of stories and Harry Potter (movie or book) will always remain a master piece.
