Hostel life is not easy! Whether it is a college hostel or a private one, there are so many things that you have to manage. Frankly, when I started living in this hostel last year when I joined Amity University, I couldn’t sleep for nights. I used to talk to my friends and cousins till I fell asleep. I didn’t cook, rather went out every evening to a nearby cafe to eat or made cuppa noodles for noodle. I would drink coffee on coffee to kill my hunger pangs as we were allowed to keep an electric kettle.
Right now, I am writing this post from my college class room as the lunch time is going on and everyone is sitting with their friends. I am feeling low because I am missing home and I think there are so many students like me. So, I am writing this post. Tell me if its true or not!
12 things you will understand if you live in a hostel:
- You are drink a lot of tea or coffee because you want to avoid cooking
- You count your clothes and try to manage it because you will wash them during the weekends
- You envy the day-scholars because they have tv and can watch all episodes of your favourite tv serial
- A hard-disk full of American tv serials and movies is nothing less than gold
- You know that you are free to do ANYTHING but still try to stay in limits because you know no one is there to handle your syappas!
- Friends become family
- You go home with enthusiasm but often spend time sleeping and binge watching tv because ghar is sukoon
- you understand value of home-made food
- You learn to share your things with your hostel friends because you never know when you will be on the other side asking for the favour
- you learn the subtle technique of saying ‘no’ and now, you are a pro in making bahaanas (excuses)
- you can sleep whether its noisy or bright
- but you understand that these are golden days of your life and no matter what, you enjoy it to the fullest
