1. Stay Hydrated, Rain or Shine

Grandma always said, “Just because it’s cool outside doesn’t mean you don’t need water.” Drink plenty of boiled or filtered water to keep those germs at bay.

2. Eat Fresh and Hot

During monsoon, she insisted on eating freshly cooked food. Avoid raw foods like salads; instead, opt for hot soups, steamed veggies, and freshly prepared meals to keep your tummy happy.

3. Wash Those Hands

Germs love the rainy season! Wash your hands frequently with soap and water, especially before meals and after coming home from outside.

4. Keep Mosquitoes Away

Mosquitoes can be a real nuisance during the monsoon. Grandma swore by natural repellents like neem oil and also suggested using mosquito nets while sleeping.

5. Wear Proper Footwear

Avoid walking in dirty water to prevent infections. My grandma always advised wearing waterproof shoes or gumboots when stepping out in the rain.

6. Boost Your Immunity

She was a big fan of including immunity-boosting foods in your diet. Turmeric milk, ginger tea, and seasonal fruits like pomegranates and oranges were her go-to recommendations.

7. Dry Your Clothes Properly

Damp clothes can lead to fungal infections. Grandma’s tip was to dry clothes under the fan or in a well-ventilated area, even if it takes a bit longer.

8. Keep Your Home Dry and Clean

A clean and dry home is a happy home. Regularly mop floors, wipe surfaces, and use disinfectants to keep the monsoon moisture and mold away.

9. Avoid Street Food

As tempting as those spicy, fried street snacks might be, my grandma always said it’s best to avoid them during monsoon to prevent stomach troubles.

10. Take Warm Showers

A warm shower not only feels great but also helps in reducing the risk of infections. Plus, it keeps you feeling cozy on those chilly rainy days.

11. Exercise Indoors

Don’t let the rain dampen your fitness routine. Grandma recommended simple indoor exercises like yoga or stretching to keep your body active and flexible.

I hope you find these tips as useful as I do. My grandma’s wisdom has always kept us healthy during the rainy season, and I’m sure it’ll do the same for you. Stay safe, enjoy the rains, and keep these tips in mind!

Happy Monsoon!
