10 Best Teen Books for a Better You

I have another interesting list of books to share with you- Teen books!! Yeah, teen books are very interesting to read. I still love reading teen books. They are cool, interesting and inspiring too!! Here is the list of best Teen Books that you must read at least once.

1. The Fault in our Stars – John Green

Author John Green has written many novels. The novel ‘The Fault in our Stars’ is the sixth novel written by him and perhaps the best from his pen. This book topped the charts of The New York All Time Bestseller List.

The protagonist is a sixteen-year-old girl who is suffering from the deadly disease cancer. Without her wiliness, she was forced to attend a cancer support group by her parents. It is then she falls in love for the very first time with a seventeen-year-old basketball player. Can she defeat the disease and start a new life again?? Or would she surrender her life to fate?? To know, read the book.

Even a feature film adaptation of the Novel was released on June 6, 2014.

2. Between Shades of Gray – Ruta Sepetys

‘Between Shades of Gray’ is the debut novel of the American author Ruta Sepetys still, it was in top of the bestseller lists. This book may sound like 50 Shades of Gray but has nothing to do with it.

The protagonist Lina gets deported from her native Lithuania and taken to a work-camp in Siberia. A different world, with different people surrounding her, she tries to build her life again. Though this book is a fictional work of the author, it’s partly inspired upon the stories the author had heard from the death survivors of the Genocide of Baltic people.

3.  The Book Thief – Markus Zusak

Set in the backdrop of Nazi Germany this book was listed on top of The New York Times Bestseller list for over 230 weeks.

Having story which speaks of love, life and relationship this is the book one must read. The book describes a young girl’s relationship with her foster parents and a young Jewish man who hides in her home during the World War II. The book has won many awards and so is in our list of best 10 Teen books.

4. The Boy in the Stripped Pajamas – John Boyne

Unlike other authors, John Boyne wrote his first draft of this book in just 2 and half days. As of March 2010, the novel had sold over five million copies around the world.

The protagonist Bruno is a nine-year-old boy who was forced to live his native place as his father got transferred. Feeling unhappy with his life when one day he was randomly exploring the camp, he sees a boy of his age sitting at the other side of the fence with stripped pajamas. Over time Bruno and the stripped-pajamas guy Samuel become close friends.
The whole story is according to Bruno’s point of view which shows his innocence and naïveté was preserved even after being brought so close to live near a death camp.

5. To Kill a Mocking Bird – Harper Lee 

A classic of modern American literature this book was an immediate success after its publication and won the Pulitzer Prize.

The plot and the characters are loosely based on the author’s observations of her family and neighbors as well as on the events that occurred near her hometown in 1936, when she was just 10 years old. Despite dealing with serious issues of rape and racial inequality, the book is renowned for its warmth and humor.

6. The Alchemy of Forever – Avery Williams

Do you believe in reincarnations?? Well, I don’t!! But this book changed my conception all together. One of the best book ever written regarding reincarnations.

The Alchemy of Forever is a book which speaks of True Love. People say ‘Love never dies’ and so do the author. The protagonist Serephina’s boyfriend managed to perfect a method of Alchemy that lets them possess body of any human being. So when Serephina landed in the body of Kailey, who was about to die in a road accident, her life changed. For the first time ever she fell in love with the life she inhabits and finds it hard to move on. So will she elude her love and rest in peace?? To know you need to read this book.

7. VoiceMates – Anamika Mishra

VoiceMates is a story of young dreamer who aspires to become a singer, but her parents wants her to pursue engineering. She sneaks out to participate in a duet singing reality VoiceMates with a help of a stranger. But little did she know that there will come a day when she has to tell everything to her parents. 8. The Diary of a Young Girl – Anne Frank

Have you ever thought that one can get published even after their death?? Well, if you don’t then do believe it.

When Anne Frank was hiding with her family for two years during the Nazi occupation of Netherlands, she used to write in her diary in Dutch language. After her death, the diary was retrieved by Miep Gies and he give it to Anne’s father, the only known survivor of her family. Since then the diary has been published in more than 60 different languages.

9. 1984 – George Orwell

1984 is a literary political fiction and dystopian science-fiction. It is a classic novel in style, plot and content which every teen should read. The protagonist of the story Winstron Smith is a member of the Outer Party. His job is to rewrite the past newspaper articles. Smith is a diligent worker, but he secretly dreams of rebelling against it.

10. The Hunger Games – Suzanne Collins

A science fiction novel by the American writer Suzanne Collins won many accolades after being published in the year 2008.

The Hunger Games is an annual event in which one boy and one girl aged 12-18 from each of the twelve districts surrounding the capitol are selected by lottery to compete in a televised battle to death. Written in the voice of a 16-year-old Katniss Everdeen, this book received mostly positive feedbacks and is on my top 10 best teen books.
