Frankly, I am really scared of visiting such places. There are numerous places in India that are haunted. Some of the most common haunted places in India include the cursed village of Kuldhara, haunted hospital of Mount Abbott in Lohaghat and Fort of Bhangarh. I have been to the cursed village of Kuldhara but did not really feel any vibe. May be because it was during the daytime and people are not allowed to stay back after sunset, but I can never forget my visit to India’s most haunted place, the haunted mansion of Mount Abbott in Lohaghat.
It is believed that the Morris Hospital at the mount Abbott was established in early 1900s. The place seems really spooky. Maybe because of the ruined hospital, old abandoned church, a graveyard and ‘mukti kothi’. I swear I am getting chills as I write this. People are not allowed to go inside the premises of the hospital or the church, though you can roam around the graveyard if you have guts.
We spoke to a local villager living there, who narrated the story of Haunted Mount Abbott. Have a look!
One of the ‘adhikaaris‘ from the tourism department told us about their plans of opening resort room too. I wonder who live in these? I could not even stand there.
According to the local caretaker who lives right next to haunted hospital of Mount Abbott, he and his wife often hears weird voices of people crying, screaming, utensils cracking and more. They often hear someone knocking their door but when they look out, there is no one out there. I asked them if they feel scared about such happenings. He laughed and replied, ‘no! we are now used to of all this. We don’t feel scared now’.
Tales have it, that Doctor Morris who had his hospital to treatment patients here, was known to predict the exact death date of his patients. But someone people said that, he used to take his patients to mukti kothi and kill him to prove his death date predictions rights.
My experience of mount Abbott:
I visited during the day time, around 1:20 PM. It was all empty there. We went at the peak of the Mount Abbott to see the abandoned hospital. I was accompanied with 10 more travel bloggers and authorities from the tourism board. 3 of our friends tress-passed to see the abandoned church and the haunted hospital. Something really weird happened! They tried to click photos of the hospital but suddenly camera stopped working and they could not click the photos. They instantly decided to come back. One of the friends also felt that someone was following them, but soon they came out from the area.
Not sure, if the tales are true or not, or if these experiences were just the myth of mind, but whatever it is, the places do have some really weird vibes. I felt very depressed and sad for the rest of the day, after coming back from there.
On another note:
The view from mount Abbott of Lohaghat was really amazing. We could see the entire valley from there. These clouds, greenery, silence, cold wind, all that made the experience even more memorable. Here are some photos that I clicked! See! π
I suggest you must visit it at once. It’s totally worth the time, especially if you like scenic beauty and serenity of the nature!
