I wear Jeans & short outfits, I might speak English most of the times, I might watch English Tv series more than the Hindi ones, I might prefer eating Italian or Chinese cuisine, my hair maybe semi-blonde mostly BUT my ideas, my thoughts, my behaviour all are #MoreIndianThanYouThink. Yes! I am totally Desi and this my success mantra.
Indian way of thinking has not just helped me in gaining good impression but it has also helped me in climbing up the ladder of success. Of all the amazing things that I have grown up within me, I will be sharing the 2 most important things from Indian culture, that has helped me in rising higher.I firmly believe that our culture is our success mantra.
Namaste is not just a way of greeting in India, but it’s a way show respect and gratitude towards the other person. Being an author, blogger and a speaker, I get to meet and interact with so many foreigners and greeting them with Namaste has always helped me in creating a good impression. I join my hands together, bow my head and say Namaste with a smile to greet the Godliness inside the other person.
Once I remember, there was a person who asked me a reason behind saying Namaste and not doing a handshake with everyone. She thought it’s just because we are taught to do so, but she was astonished when I explained her the logical reason behind it. Though we often meet people who are good and keep their hands cleans, but just on the basis of an assumption, you can let the germs pass onto your hands. Yes, a handshake not just helps in exchanging the energies but it also the germs. She was so impressed after this discussion that she instantly booked me to speak for another session happening in her office. Even today, I am regularly in touch with her and now she is a good friend.
2. Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam:
This is an old Sanskrit saying written in Maha Upnishad which means ‘The World Is One Family’. Because it’s in our heads, the feelings of humbleness (like it’s there for our families) automatically comes within which is clearly visible in our behavior and work. And trust me, the work that is done with humbleness and love is more fruitful than the work done with no feelings and just efforts. Obviously, if you believe that whatever you are doing is for the benefit of your family, you will put your heart and soul to make it outstanding.
I am really feeling good right now as it’s been a long time since I shared something like this which is so close to my heart and soul. Talking of which, I’d like to share this really amazing TVC by Lufthansa. It’s a cool one! I loved the dialogue in it, ‘If you want to beat Indians, you need to think like Indians’. OK, you watch it yourself now:
I’m sure now you will agree to the fact that I am more Indian than people think! 😉
