Every journalist I meet ends up asking this question ‘How It Actually Feels To Be A Writer?‘ and says that it’s off the record, just curious to know…
And I always reply, ‘it feels great! I am living my dream…’ and I smile!
Is that all? No! Being a writer makes me feel so much more that just a smile and a word ‘great!’
Of course I am living a dream… but I feel much more than this feeling.
It actually feels DIFFERENT! I feel gifted.
Unlike others, I am someone who always carries a diary and a pen with me, making tales in my mind and jotting down on my diary every now and then.
Yes, I do have some habits that “WRITERS” possess but that is something I have in me like since forever. I drink black coffee at night (actually I am night owl), I speak philosophical quotes and love to lecture people on life and love and destiny and faith. I love to talk to people and know about their lives (that’s actually a brainstorming activity for me). I never run short of words, and I talk a lot. I love soft music, I love buying stationary (though, at times I am accompanied with school kids helping me pick a designer diary or a new pen for me… and sometimes they ask ‘Aap konsi class me ho?’ / ‘Which class do you read in?’) and yes I wear glasses!
I am calm and composed and resemble a typical writer when I wear my specs (that’s what my friends say… ‘Aj pakki writer lag rahi ho!’)
Though I know my field is completely different from what regular people do, sometimes I feel in a same way as others do when they get a job of their choice.
I love to write… I love to create stories and share… I love to inspire people and I feel happy with what I do.. actually am doing…
But surely, the questions like these makes me feel unique and different. And that feeling is also beautiful… especially when people say ‘Wow! At such young age, you are doing this much. Great!’
This feeling makes me feel over-whelmed.
And yes, being a writer makes me feel happy, different and gifted.
