This is the first book of 2015 and I am glad that I read it. At first, I would like to Thank Ritoban for writing such a wonderful book.
Book Review: When She Smiled | Ritoban Chakrabarti
When She Smiled by Ritoban Chakrabarti is very heartwarming story which makes you feel nostalgic for childhood days of thrill, romance and excitement.
‘When She Smiled’ is a story of 15 years old Mrityunjoy Roy who is attracted to the beauty and sweet smile of the gorgeous girl Akanksha. Yes this is very true and same infatuation has engulfed in the protagonist’s mind and heart of the story.
I like the sweet, innocent and much predicted feelings of this young boy. The charming, dimpled and marvelous look of Akanksha creates an image of the girl in the mind instantly as I read the book.
The romantic narrations and the superb descriptions of the events and feelings of the antagonists and protagonists are mind blowing to keep me attached to the book until it finishes. There is always a question coming- what will happen to the love story next?
The scenic beauty and natural landscape of the enthralling hill station Shimla matches exactly to the romantic and childhood adventurous spirit of the story.
At times I really felt sad to read the physical torture and abuse the Mrityunjoy has to undergo by his teachers who had slapped him several times. This was not very easy for me to accept as being an experienced and aged teacher he should have explained the guy in some other way.
The sweet charming evergreen friendship, attraction, love and break of heart, ridiculous facts and academic with career growth pressure are all described so systematically that it seems that the same experience is being occurring in the real life and cab be visualized so easily.
But as destiny rules- so does in the case of our romantic hero Mrityunjoy at last is seen to understand the reality of life and what is more important to him. He shifts his attraction to his studies and academics erasing all the bygone memories of childhood romance as a dream which needs to be forgotten when awaken.
All in all, its a fresh and enchanting love story. Old school love narrated at its best! Ritoban did a fab job! All the best to this debutant author for future plans.
