It was October 17, 2014 when I (Anamika Mishra) along with my fellow author & friend Bhavya Kaushik and Gaurav Kushwaha visited Amity University, Jaipur to interact with students and deliver a talk on and about the trends of literary industry and scope of being an author. We also launched a new and first of its kind anthology named ‘Goofy’ which is written by young engineers and complied by Gaurav Kushwaha himself.
|Some Moments Captured During The Event In Amity University, Jaipur|
Before, I start to share my experience about the event… I would like to say, it was indeed a moment of pleasure when I entered the campus of Amity University as one of the delegates for the event. I am an alumni of Amity University, so I was feeling really very happy on being called as a guest speaker for the event. It was indeed a proud and nostalgic moment for me.
Our event started at 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM. Then we took a half-an-hour break for lunch and again resumed the event which ended at 5:00 PM. It was a 3 hours long session. I personally felt amazing on sharing the my experience on being a writer. I and Bhavya Kaushik, discussed about ‘scope on being an author’.
Some students were really curious to know for how can they enter this wonderful literary world. Bhavya explained the whole process of entering the literary world, from researching to writing a manuscript to finding a correct publisher to getting the book published and promoting it.
Many students and even faculty members wanted to know which is more beneficial- Vanity publishing or Traditional publishing. I really enjoyed discussing and explaining the difference between both types of publishing and which is better.
We also delivered talks on various topics like how to start writing, the scope of being a poet, how important is the ‘fun’ element in the book, is ‘erotic’ essence mandatory in a novel, can someone earn a lifestyle while being a full-time author, how to write a good book, etc.
Session became more interactive when Director of Amity University, Jaipur Mr. Jitendra Singh joined us for the discussion, post lunch. I and Bhavya loved solving his doubts on self publishing, e-book publishing and traditional publishing.
Soon after our talk session ended, we launched the book- ‘Goofy- An Anthology’ and its soundtrack. We met and interacted with the faculty members including Vibha Upadhyaya, Ashish Pateria, Anjani Kumar, Ravi Meena, Amarnath Sharma to name a few. Meeting them was indeed a pleasure!
Not to forget, Pratibha Sharma our organizer did a fabulous job and made us feel like home.
I am very thankful to Amity University, Jaipur for giving us this opportunity to share our thoughts and experiences. I loved the warmth with which everyone welcomed us and loved us. I would surely love to visit them again!
