Traditional Publishing vs Self-Publishing: Which Is Better And Why?
Authors have the scope of publishing in any of the two methods- Traditional or Self- publishing. But how to decide which is a better way? Here’s my take on both the ways to get published.
To discuss on the fact that which method of publishing is better for authors in publishing it is required to understand the differences of the two publishing procedures and tactics one by one.
Traditional Publishing vs Self-Publishing:

Traditional publishing technique is the process of publishing in which the author at first completes his/her manuscripts. After completing the manuscript and revising he/she writes a query letter or a letter of proposal to the publishing house where the document is submitted. There can be responsible literary agent who carries out the task. After that the editor of the publishing house it and confirms on whether the document is right to be accepted or rejected in the publish mode.
After the confirmation of publishing is achieved the publishing house buys the right of the book being published from the author and pays him/her in advance payment or royalties to the author. The publishing house now designs the book and packaged the book. The publishing house then prints as many copies of the book as required and estimated to get sold in the market. Marketing the book and finally distributing the book to the public are all carried out by the publishing house
Self -publishing is another option of publishing the books by authors. Here the author himself/herself turns out to be the publisher of his/her book. The most essential thing for self-publishing the book is that the author must proofread and edit the book very well to confirm it as the final text. There must be adequate fund to publish the book and also the camera ready to undertake the necessary art work to make the book ready for publishing.
Every aspect of marketing and distributing of the book are solely the responsibility of the author. So necessary budget and estimated calculations are required to be made to undertake the total process of filling the orders, advertising, marketing, distributing, printing, unsold stack holding. There is now the POD option where only required numbers of copies are printed.
When comparing the two option of publishing it is found that if time is the factor then the self-publishing is faster, while if money is considered self-publishing can bring huge profit if the company is renowned and reliable. Self -publishing is best for those who are self- marketers.
