These days, I am often singing this song!!! Mumbai, or rather I should call it as Bombay ( ’cause I love this name) is a place, where I am residing these days. It is totally a new experience to live here as a resident and not as a guest!!! And so when I am here for some last few days ( as I have to relocate myself again Duh!! ) , I decided to write something about this place. But What can I say about this beautiful city? What new I can say which nobody else has written or blogged?? About the skyscrapers? or the Rush?? Local Trains or Vada-Pav??? Everything is known to everyone.
So this time, I will describe a bit of Bombay according to my persona & make you walk a mile in my shoes!!!
Bombay is like my second home!! I come here every year. But every time as a guest, to hang around and explore places… for shopping or just for a change!! But this time, I was here for work!!!
And I must say, past few months were tough. I came to know the real Bombay. The Bombay which is harsher than it seems.
People here don’t have time for anything… They don’t care about anything!! All they know is
Run Run & Run!!!
I saw the misery of poor people living here. I even saw shooting of movies but I myself didnt had a time to peep in and find out which movie’s shooting was going on!!
Even I had to Rush!!!
Before coming here, I had dreamt of a total different life but coming here made me live my life in a different way!!!!
Thought, would go to the beach every evening, walk around the queen’s necklace, drive through the Sea-Link, etc etc, but It remained a thought!!!
Going to the Parties, Corporate parties, dealing with the clients, preparing charts and reports etc, this was my regime!!
Feels tired now…
But I am happy that I got a chance to live as resident and not as a guest in this city. Yes It is a city of dreams no doubt, but surely is not my cup of tea….
So, I guess, My search for myself is still on!! I thought it would end here… But surely this is not what I want to do in my life…
I don’t want to be the part of this crowd and spend my whole life rushing and running for the local trains!!
Surely Mumbai would remain in the list of my favorite cities as previously it was… after all it is my second home!! but yeah, I am happy being a Guest than a Resident!!!
So, here I am ending up my post with the immortal words of Rafi Sahab…
“Kahin building kahin traame, kahin motor kahin mill, Milta hai yahan sab kuchh ik milta nahin dil…
Insaan ka nahin kahin naam-o-nishaan;
Zara hat ke zara bach ke, yeh hai Bombay meri jaan”
